Hi all,

Asgard Troth will be having Ostara, held at mine and siggy_1_eye's place, March 22. Start arriving in the afternoon. There will be an egg hunt for the kids, egg toss for everyone, and good times, good food, and good mead. Dinner should be about five, just after blot in the grove, and sumble should be about sixish.

What do you all think of trying to go with the old tradition of staying up all night and then doing the egg toss on Sunday morning?

A Boast... because I want to raise my own horn :P
tamyris' latest devotional Full Fathom Five, a devotional dedicated to the Norse Deities of the sea: Ran, Aegir, Their Nine Daughters and Njord, is now officially in print and currently available at Lulu.com and will soon be available at Amazon.com. The boast is both for my oath-sister, but also for myself, for the cover design is the work of yours truly. Although for some reason the bookcover is displaying oddly on Lulu's website, hmmmm.

I personally view that book cover as being divinely inspired. Typically when I've worked on covers in the past and other types of graphic art materials for a property... even if I really know the subject matter and feel strongly connected to it, it can take me days of experimentation, and putzing around one pixel at a time with the design and layout until I'm satisfied. I was expecting the work on this cover to be like pulling teeth, instead... the cover came together so quickly that I was taken aback and surprised. I personally haven't worked but in passing with the Deities in this devotional, and so I was expecting it to be slow work. But it seemed no sooner had I started then I was done. I truly consider it as being guided by Their hands.

There are many layered images and design elements in the cover, from the obvious sea shell spiral pattern of a nautilus, to schools of fish, roaring waves, shafts of light as seen from underwater in the deep sea, calm seas and stormy skies, plus a few other things (can you find them?). ^.^

Orlog and Wyrd
This is the time of year to be thinking on it, and working with it. Lately I've found it is something I feel compelled to work on.

Frigga weaves the threads to be spun by the Norns.

I'm sure that within our kindred, there are plenty of thoughts on this one.

And here's a thread on the Texatru Junction board I thought had some good input from some Texas Asatruar: http://www.asatru.us/junction/thread.php?threadid=489

Can you spare a few moments?
My oath sister needs some Heathens to take a few moments to answer some questions for an assignment she's working on in her Anthropology class in graduate school. If you can spare the time, or know of other Heathens who might be willing to participate could you pass the info along?

Navy to alter swastika-shaped barracks
This might be of mild interest for a few of you. While I'll always feel that the stigma Hitler and the Nazi Party gave to one of our most sacred symbols (the sunwheel) is a shame, I certainly also understand not wanting to appear as if you support a doctrine of hate, and the symbolism our symbol is now most usually recognized for.
